Reviews and consultation

Professional consultations

A structured consultation with Dr. Bell for attorneys, accredited claims agents, VSOs, and referring health professionals.

01 / WHEN IT MAY FIT

What this service can help answer.

Professional consultation is for a referral source with a defined mental health question—such as clarifying case formulation, understanding a prior evaluation, or deciding whether an independent service may fit. It is separate from the introductory veteran consultation and does not provide legal strategy. When the task requires detailed analysis of selected records rather than a discussion, a records and prior-opinion review may be the better service.

  • A professional needs help defining the mental health question in a case.
  • A prior examination or opinion needs a clinical review.
  • A referral source wants to know whether an evaluation may fit.
  • Mental health evidence or evaluation standards need to be explained.

02 / WHAT IT INCLUDES

A clear scope before work begins.

Before the engagement, Dr. Bell confirms the participants, completes conflict screening, defines the clinical question, identifies any records to discuss, and sets the meeting format, written follow-up, estimated time, and fee. A professional can contact Dr. Bell to describe the referral question and receive secure next-step instructions.

03 / SCOPE

What this service covers.

Consultation can explain clinical reasoning, evaluation standards, and whether a records review or psychological evaluation may be useful within a defined referral. It does not replace an evaluation of the veteran, create a professional opinion from incomplete information, provide treatment, or offer legal advice. Browse all mental health evaluation and review services when the needed work product is not yet clear.

Included in the scope

  • Discuss clinical reasoning and case formulation
  • Explain what the record may or may not support
  • Clarify whether a review or evaluation may be useful

Outside this scope

  • Provide legal advice or claim strategy
  • Replace an evaluation of the veteran
  • Provide treatment or ongoing case management
